Broken Bells are just the coolest! They have a way of combining disco tech beats with futuristic space odysseys, and in doing so pull at my heart strings oh so well. The duo is composed of artist-producer Brian Burton (better known as Danger Mouse) and James Mercer, lead vocalist and guitarist from indie band The Shins. After The Disco, is their second collaboration together, and has just dropped in Australia.
Holding On For Life, is packed with funky, mid-tempo grooves. It recalls the album’s predominantly post-disco themes, with Mercer’s falsetto veering into Bee Gees territory, while opener ‘Perfect World’ coalesces all the trademark qualities of both artists. – Clash Music
With its catchiness of choruses and pop infused tempo’s, After The Disco is a creative compilation of all things new and exciting. Taking on a new take to the ‘indie’ genre, the Broken Bells do well at charming us with this new euphoric mess.
