Banoffee, the solo project of Melbourne based singer and producer Martha Brown, is pleased to share the first single lifted from the EP ‘With Her’ produced by long time collaborator and friend Oscar Key Sung and premiered via I-D Magazine today.
‘With Her’ sees Banoffee’s unique recipe of new wave, R’n’B, gliding synths and majestically layered vocals on full display, with floating textures, aquatic piano and a syncopated rhythmic backbone building into an impassioned crescendo.
Last years debut self-titled EP gave a first sense of her musical empowerment, with songs bringing together delicate vocals with fiercely personal lyrics for powerful artistic vessels. It made certain that her 2014 was replete with national and international tours, awards and a rapidly growing fanbase. After impressing audiences at Byron Bay’s Splendour in the Grass and New York’s CMJ among other live appearances, her signature sound has become equally sought after both off and on stage. This was recognized with her nomination in both Best Song and Best Female Artist categories at Australia’s Age Music Victoria Awards in 2014. Further accolades saw her named as Best of 2014 by Indie Shuffle and earmarked as ‘one to watch’ by Tumblr and Spotify.
Alongside her accomplishments in music, Banoffee’s interests in creativity and the arts has made her an increasingly sought after style figure, having featured in Vogue alongside other fashion publications. As she continues to inspire, her talent comes through modestly, while her effortless style and naturally vibrant art make her a taste you’ll grow unable to resist.
